I have a Gateway MX6440 with a DVD/CD drive. I loaded a DVD to watch, and instead of getting sound, I got a constant clicking noise - the noise was coming from the speakers, not the drive itself. I've watched several videos online and the sound was fine...so I figured there was something wrong with the drive. I got another one and installed it. Put in a DVD and found the same problem...so must not be the drive after all. :upset: I put a CD in the drive and it played fine. The DVD plays video fine, but no sound...just the clicking noise. Any ideas what the problem is :4-dontkno Thanks.

UPDATE

At the suggestion of somebody in another forum, I loaded VLC Player and tried that. I set the default DVD player in the control panel to VLC instead of Widows Media Player, popped in a movie and Viola! - audio is now playing correctly with the video.

I guess I'll just use the VLC Player for movies from now on, but still wondering what the issue is with Windows Media Player that won't allow the audio in DVDs only to play correctly.
