All,
I have a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows XP. It has a DVD/CDRW combo drive on it.
When I go to My Computer, Windows does not recognize that the drive exists on the computer. Also, when I go to Device Manager, no DVD/CD drive is detected at all. However, when I put in a DVD or CD into the drive, I can feel and hear it spinning, though nothing pops up to play the disc.
I'm pretty sure that this is a Windows problem rather than a drive problem, because someone at Best Buy was able to put a CD in which the computer read before going into Windows. I've tried all of the avenues that are on the Windows website to fix the problem, to no avail.
Suggestions?
