I have a quad core, 4 gb ram, xp sp3 pc, with a Radeon 4650 video card. I am trying to run clone mode, and clone my desktop to the tv 1080p(samsung hls5087w), via a DVI to HDMI cable. I can get it to clone and display properly, but whenever I launch a game, or the full screen tests of DXDIAG, my resolution resets to 848x480. Games will not even allow me to adjust the resolution to full screen. If I disable the HDTV, everything works fine. I have fiddled with the settings, but maybe I am doing something wrong. My monitors resolution is 1440x900.
Also, if I only connect the HDTV, and not the monitor, I have the same issue.

Have you tried updating the ATI video drivers?

I don't know why the resolution would change, but if you clone the desktop, both screens should be running at 1440x900.

I did install the latest drivers. Its really weird. If I disable the monitor and only use the HDTV, it does the same thing. The desktop will look fine, but when I launch a game the resolution changes, and in the game menus, I cannot access anything higher than 848x480. The only trick I found, is to start the game with only the monitor enabled, then minimize the game, open CCC, then enable the HDTV. It seems like the game is sensing that the max resolution of the TV as 848x480, even though its 1080p. Even CCC shows it as 1080p.
