OK i understand that some software does not recongise more than 3 or 4 Gig of RAM, and that some motherboards dont support more than 4 Gig of RAM.
My question is If you have a dual core CPU and run a couple of diffrent programes would it be that each Core uses just 2 gig ie the ram is split equally.
Or
If you had a mother board that supports say 8 Gig of RAM and you ran the same programes would each core use the max of RAM thats availible i.e 4 Gig each, or will they just use the 4 gig.
May be a silly question but just wondering about it.

The cores do not have their own assigned memory allocation they will use what they need up to whats available(either physical or Operating system limits) then write to the swap file on the hard drive.

The OS is the limitation for the RAM. A 32Bit OS will only recognize up to about 3.75GB (XP up to 3.5GB). A 64Bit OS will see up to 8GB but 4GB is more than sufficient.
