hello, my dad has a acer 3620. Its been acting really slow, even after reformating. He decided to install his own windows xp on the laptop instead of using the attached xp the laptop originally came with. The laptop is now running slightly better and the very quiet speakers are now at least audible :4-dontkno

My question is when he starts the laptop up it asks him which OS he wants to boot and starts a timer incase ur afk. He wants to get rid of the ability to choose the second option (pre-configed windows XP) Is there any way to skip the start up screen and just start up like normal??

Quick and easy fix - easy way to access the Boot.ini file - go to start - run - and type msconfig - click on the BOOT.INI tab and change the timeout option to 00 sec. instead of 30sec. however you will want to make sure that the OS that you to boot to is listed first in the boot.ini file. good luck
