dsl connection

Aloha,
I cannot see to figure out how to tell my laptop to connect via dsl, it keeps wanting to do a dial up connection. I've already tried the obvious, making a new connection, getting rid of the dial up connection, but I know I am missing a step that is so simple. I know I can hook up, cuz I've done it before, but I got a new computer and hooked up the dsl to that, and now that I have a wireless, modem/router I wanted to add on the laptop, but I cannot figure out how to tell the system. Please help.

So Desktop computer can connect to the internet fine and it is hard wired into the router/modem? How are you trying to connect the laptop to the router/modem? Are you getting any errors?

I would also do this first on the lapopt, open internet exploer>tools>internet options>connections and select never dial a connection.

Since you have a modem/router, that always stays connected to your DSL and once you connect the computer and laptop to it, those will automatically be online.
