Dropped laptop

My 9 yr old dropped my wife’s HP Pavilion laptop a few feet to the floor while it was on. It worked fine after the drop until I went to shut it down. It would not shut down, had to let the battery die. Noticed later on that the charger indicator light on the laptop does not glow when the power supply is plugged in. On top of that, the laptop will not turn on. If you push the power button on, you get a little light that flashes above the little lightning bolt symbol. Can anyone help me figure this out, or do I have to buy a new laptop.
