drivers installation on vista

I reinstalled vista on a new harddrive and now it won't recognize my "dvd" driver. I tried reinstalling the drivers on the disk provided when I bought my computer and it says it is bad. Please help

go to the computer manufacturers website and download the latest ones and try to install those.

I can't even get to the internet. I tried to download to a usb drive, but it doesn't recognize that drive either.
