I wanted to reformat my new external hard drive. A friend of mine told me to right click on the drive while in disk management and click "delete volume". After doing that, the drive had disappeared from disk management. I tried refreshing it, but nothing changed.

Please help, I can't find the drive anywhere!

All you had to do was select format.

Disconnect the HDD, reboot, and attach the drive. The HDD should be recognized...although it will likely need to be initialized, partitioned, and formatted.
