My NEW hard drive has started to play up! It will work then not work! The computer is about 6 years old but has been upgraded a fair bit! Now the hard drive should not be giving me grief?! There is another hard drive connected up through PATA and always works! Should I replace the connecting cables or any power supply?
Disconnect the SATA HDD. If the PC still freezes, it's not the SATA drive.
The next step would be to test the SATA HDD using the drive manufacturers disk tools. Perform the short and long test. If either test fails or shows errors, the HDD should be replaced.
