Down loading music

Hi, sorry if this question is wrong area but I really am a total beginner. Please feel free to point me in the right direction!
Basically, I bought and downloaded some music (WMA files from Tescos site) and thought it would be a simple task to burn them to audio CD. Windows media would not burn saying the file was protected. So what type of files can I burn then? Can I transfer these files onto an MP3 or IPOD if I purchased one or are they now doomed to remain preserved for all eternity on my computer?
Everyone said downloading and burning was simple, but I don't understand which probably makes me a bit of a twit:4-dontkno , but if someone would help explain, I'd appreciate the feedback. Thank you  Ruby

If you paid for the license to the songs, than it is completely within your rights to burn them to a CD. There are ways to remove the DRM scheme from WMA files. One of the programs that will do this is FairUse4WM.

WMA files are not playable on the iPod.
burn cd..

if you have an Audigy sound card, u can use smart recorder... and rerecord all your songs into MP3 format... it'd take a while.. but it works
