Hi, I just got a new motherboard to replace my burnt out one, but I'm not sure if the Ram I also bought is compatible.

The motherboard is Asus m5a78l-m lx and the Ram is 1 stick of 4gb Corsair xms3 cmx4gx3m1a1333c9. I looked at the Ram compatibility chart and its not listed, even though the brand type is. Does anyone know if it is or not? Should I try it anyway before returning it? Thanks

Good quality Mobo's & RAM rarely have compatibility issues but, as noted by dai, a matched pair (2x2 or 2x4GB) would have been a better choice to take advantage of Dual Channel Mode and its performance advantages.

Actually I thought I did buy the 2x2. It wasn't until I got home and opened it realized the guy sold me a single 4gb.

As above ^
Any reputable shop should make the exchange with no problems.
