You know how Firefox has an option that allows you to save all the tabs you have open and bring them up for the next session? Does anyone know of a freeware program for Windows Vista (or Windows in general) that essentially allows you do the same thing? In other words, if, when I restart my computer I have Wordpad, Windows Media Player and oh, a couple of folders open, it would automatically bring those back up after restart?

For Windows Explorer, you can go to folder options. The setting is named restore previous folder windows at logon. Don't know how you would do it with other apps though. If it's the same every time, just add entries in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Just follow the pattern. If you don't see any entries, look in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and copy the patterns from there.

That's what Sleep and Hibernate are for.
You can also use the SteadyState tool - but I believe that you'll have to set it to save the state each time you shutdown.

Yeah, and both are great-- unless you need to restart the computer for some reason.

Anyway, the folder options thing is working for me, so thanks again for that tip.
