Hi guys,

Later this month I'm gonna buy a 32" or 37" 1080P LCD-TV. I want to hook my PC up to it and play Fallout 3, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 as well as watch Blu-ray movies at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Obviously my video-card setup is going to make or break this endeavor.

Right now I have a PNY XLR8 Geforce 8800GT 512MB DDR3 card. The other relevant components in my system are my 2gb ram and an Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ cpu. I want to make sure I've got what I need. I can still return the card to the store within the next 6 days if I need to go a different route.

What solution do you guys recommend? I could buy a second 8800 GT and upgrade to an SLI capable motherboard, but I have 0 experience doing SLI or crossfire stuff. Can I buy a different brand 8800 GT and SLI it or do I need (or should I) get the exact same card? I bet I can get a second 8800 GT probably around $100 sometime over the next few weeks. I'd be dropping around $290 total for the two cards and motherboard.

I know the XLR8 model card has over-heating issues, but I'm not terribly worried about that.

I figure my safest and simplest bet is just returning my current card and upgrading to a different card that we can be confident will play Fallout 3, etc, at 1920x1080. But the question remains... which card? If I stay put will my current card strike out at the plate?

Thanks for any help guys!!!

For SLI you need the same the 8800GT as your first one and yes get 2 of them maby also look into a cheap custom cooler liek acceleros2 with turbo fans as i can imagine watching a HD movie on 1920x 1280 they would get pretty hot!

For 2 8800 cards in SLI you will need at least a quality 750w power supply and if you play for extended periods I would go higher.
Seasonic - any model
Corsair - any model
Thermaltake - "Toughpower" series only
Coolermaster - "Real Power Pro" series only
PC Power & Cooling - any model
Silverstone - any model
