Hi all,

I have a Sony TV which is DLNA compatible. It plays music (mp3's) and displays photos (JPEG's) over the network from a DNLA server.

I have successfully set up a server using a VISTA laptop, using WMP as the server. This has worked perfectly. Yet it's not practical.

I try to do the same with an XP desktop, and it doesn't work! I am currently sucessfully using a program called SimpleCenter from the desktop which is acting as a server.

Because of the way SimpleCenter handles photos, I would like to use WMP. I have the lastest version of WMP (11) and when I set it to share media the only device that pops up is the VISTA laptop and NOT the Sony TV. I have tried everything and I am out of ideas :4-dontkno

Yet its strange because WMP on the vista laptop sees the Sony TV first time.

I have also tried Nero, but it is very slow and clunky and I don't like it. I also tried iTunes, but found out that wont work.

So could anyone throw in some ideas on what I haven't tried? It's very stressful haha.

Thanks!!

I also have had some success using Vista/WMP desktop as my DLNA server and connecting to a Directv HR20 DVR then to a Sony XBR7. Music and photos mostly work OK. However, when connecting directly to the XBR7 RJ45 jack it's a different story. Pictures work OK but no music will transfer. I can "see" my server on the XBR7 screen menu and the music cuts within the WMP Library but when trying to play the music I see a "no items to display" message on the screen.

As far as XP is concerned. No Joy there at all after many hours of fiddling around. I give up. I agree, it's very stressful. This whole area seems to be a pipe dream.

Regards.
