All right, you fine folks were able to help me before when my motherboard gave out on me (due to crappy product who's company manufacturer shall remain nameless). Now, I'm having trouble so I thought I'd try to get your help again.

20 minutes ago I installed the Sims 3: World Adventures expansion pack. Then I patched the game. then I got an invite to a Left 4 Dead 2 match, accepted it and launched L4D2. Loaded into the game just fine... then everything went ballistic.
Steam crashed, my L4d2 menu screen turned into a blue screen, and then I got a notice saying my display drivers had crashed but had recovered successfully...

Then my computer locked up. It hung for a moment, I tried Ctrl+Alt+Del and once more got the "Display drivers crashed but recovered" message. Then the computer just froze. It was completely non-responsive and I reluctantly resorted to the abomination that is the Hard Boot.

Upon turning the computer back on I got the usual loading screen. A black screen with "Initializing..." Up in the top left corner. This is what I always expect... But this time I got the screen with a background of DOLLAR SIGNS. Like a snowfall of white $ scattered geometrically across my screen in a criss cross pattern.
I knew that couldn't be good. I launched in safe mode. Everything started up okay, so I decided to restart and see if it would help my computer boot up smoothly.
Again I got the dollar sign initializing screen. I tried to launch windows normally, and the computer crashed. I safe briefly flickered message on a blue screen announcing that Windows encountered a problem with my display drivers and had to be shut down to prevent damage to my computer. This screen was displayed for all of perhaps 15 seconds before my computer abruptly went into sleep mode.

I shut down the computer fully and let it rest for a few minutes then I tried again and achieved the same results.

I'm not in safe mode, on the computer and am typing this message up on my laptop as I try to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. My computer is an AlienWare and one of it's boot options is to launch the Alienware Respawn feature that wipes the whole thing clean and lets me start over as if the computer was fresh from the factory.
This is a very, VERY unpleasant prospect as I would then have to reinstall all my software.

If anyone has any thoughts, Ideas, or similar experiences and can off a helpful suggestion, please do so!

I'll do that as soon as I can, it may take a bit. Unfortunately I've forgotten my password for my log in here on the forum, and the recovery e-mail is taking forever and a day to reach me. I'm only able to post right now thanks to my laptop having apparently autosaved my log in information.
As soon as I can log in properly and download those files I'll update my post with the information.

All right, I have the the TSF file, but I couldn't provide the HTML report, when I tried to do the perfmon /report command, clicked the icon and when the window for the program opened it said "Error: An Error occured while attempting to generate the report.
The system cannot find the path specified.

Further more, I cannot get the TSF Zip to upload and attach on the forum for some reason. :sigh:
I'm beginning to think I may just have to bite the bullet and take my computer to geek squad tomorrow.
