every 3 hours to 30 mins or so everything freezes the screen goes black and it says my display adapter has stopped working and has successfully recovered. I don't know why it keeps saying that I've updated my video driver a thousand times and I still don't know what to do.

I have an ATI xfx 4890
AMD athlon x2 6400
4 gigs of ram
750 watt psu

Post the make and model 750w and your system temps. These errors are typical of overheating or power problems

Run a gpu temp monitoring program in the background while you game and check the gpu temp right when it crashes. Also , make sure your using the latest bios for your motherboard.

It also wouldn't hurt to use driver cleaner and remove all of the ati or nvidia software from the pc and start fresh. Try several driver versions and not just the latest , sometimes latest is not the best for every pc.

allright thank you I got up to 70 C gaming and I found I can turn up my fan speed so now I'm around 57 C and I haven't crashed so far so hopefully that will help. thanks again I'll update you if I crash and what I'll try to fix it.

Check your cpu temp and post the motherboard make and model.

the cpu temp seems low but my motherboard is a gigabyte s- series GA-MA770-DS3P

Seems low? Meaning it's at what temp under load?

it ranges from 50C to 60C under a load playing WoW it gets to 62C and sometimes 65C

That isn't low , thats quite high , get the cpu much cooler then that.

There are several ways to cool a cpu. Clean out case dust , lower room temperature , add more fans to the case , redo thermal paste , ect..

In that case try the latest bios for the motherboard and make sure the motherboard drivers are current. Also check your windows updates.

okay I downloaded the bios update but it's a 7zip extraction where should I extract it to?

Check for install instructions from where you downloaded the new bios , each bios is a little different as far as installing goes.

got a new processor AMD Phenom 2 x4 and I still have driver crashes from my vid card, I even updated my bios
