"Disk read error has occured"

Hello,
Whenever I turn on my laptop I get this thing that says
A disk read error has occurred
Press Ctrl+ Alt+ Del to restart

I think i got this from holding down the power button to force shut off my comp because I've had a continuous problem with games freezing and making my comp slow so thus forcing me to force shut down my comp. Well that problem stopped now, but i was nerdraging and shut my laptop closed and i proceeded to force shut down my comp because i didn't want to wait for it to load up from sleep (yes i shouldn't have done that but I have some anger issues as you can probably see from this post) I didn't smash my comp or anything of the sort i only closed it and was still angry so i force shut it down. So before that i have force shut down my comp many times testing to see if anything I was doing was fixing that problem with the freezing but it wouldn't fix it and so I would force shut it down.

P.S. I hope I'm in the right part of this forum not sure though.

Signs of a failing or failed hard drive. Did you regularly backup your data? I hope so, because if not you could be looking at loosing all your data.

Does the laptop POST? When do you exactly get the error message? As soon as it powers on?
I get the error right after the normal start screen appears. It doesn't even get to the log in screen. It's just a black screen and then in the top left corner after about 10-15 seconds it says
A disk read error has occured
Press Ctrl+ Alt+ Del to restart
And this keeps happening when i restart my comp. And also i don't have anything important to me on that comp because I only use it for games, I use my dads mac for school work and whatnot.
