I have noticed my computer has been freezing constantly lately (hard not to notice) and I tried running the disk defragmenter on my two hard drives. However, both times they tell me after a few minutes that there are errors on the drives that need fixing first. So I run ScanDisk, that finishes, finds no errors, and I am back to square one. So what do I do now?
Also, incidentally, what other programs are suggested for general maintaining and cleanup of one's computer to keep it running smoothly?
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Peter

Also you may want to click the box for through scan. From my understanding if you dont click that box then you chose to have it just scan the major things. If yo check the box then you chose to scan everything.

press ctrl-alt-delete (at the same time)

this will bring up a screen which will show all programs that are running.

highlight each program except explorer and choose END TASK

when all have been removed from screen (except explorer)

run defrag on all Hard Drives.
