I noticed today that "Disk Cleanup" will not function of my PC. When I start it up, the little "Disk Cleanup" box appears in the center of my screen and has three bars "Scanning: Compress old files" and.....that's it. It stays like that for the duration. Finally, after 2 hours earlier today I cancelled the "Disk Clenup" but I don't think it is working and nothing is happening. Does anyone know what possibly might be going on?

Welcome to the Forums PCPatrick..............:D

Try this

Open My Computer, right-click on a drive (AKA volume), select
Properties, flip to the Tools tab, and press the "Check Now..."
button. Place a checkmark in the "Automatically fix file system
errors." and also Place a checkmark in Scan and try to replace Bad Sectors. It will prompt you to schedule a scan before the next Windows session.

Also you can try:

From run enter "sfc /scannow" It needs to be exact. (note the space between the c and the forward slash

This scan checks for corrupted or broken files, then directs you to a know source to retrieve/repair it.

SPEEDO, I tried both of your suggestions but the "Disc Cleanup" still will not perform on my PC. I don't know what to do..... However, thanks so much for your help.
