Okay I bought this cheesy Gforce2 MX/MX400 for my second computer. Obviously I want Directx9 on it to play new games. When I install DX9 and reboot it tells me that I still do not have DX9 on my system!!! WTH is going on?

System Specs:

Amd Athlon 1ghz "with 3d Now!"
512 mb sdram Ram
GeForce 2 Mx/Mx agp 2x 400 Bios:3.11.01.26.1a
Windows Advanced Server

Your card doesn't support directx 9 effects. Some games probably won't run but most will run with less effects. the lowest price direct x 9 card is the fx 5200. Get one of those.

I have the same card and I was able to install DX9 perfectly fine w/o any problems.

I'm using Windows XP Pro....Windows Advanced Server isnt made to run high end multimedia applications.

Windows XP home/pro does a better job at this....you might also want to get the latest drivers from Nvidia's website....

Hope this helps.

It must be the advanced server version causing the trouble because you should be able to install direct x 9. just understand that you will not be able to use any direct x 9 specific features because your card does not support it.
