Hi all,

since MS support centre is a complete joke, I was hoping maybe some experienced computer users could help me out.

I have installed the new DirectX 9.0b upgrade and initially it was working fine. Now on a random basis when I startup, the DirectSound fails and says that I have no soundcard driver installed. As I said, this happens about 50% of the time that I startup.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it simply a case of updating my sound card driver (which i believed was uptodate)? Is there any way I can roll back to DX 8.0 or 9.0, cos I no problems whatsoever with those.

Cheers,

Try this...

First find an updated driver from the internet.

unpack it and get it ready for installation.

in your device manager uninstall the sound card

restart

when it finds new hardware use the new driver
