Hey,
I just recently purchased some new stuff for my PC:
Asus Geforce4 ti440 graphics card
Abit sa7 motherboard w p4 2.53ghz processor
I'm running windows 2k, service pack 3

Anyway, set up everything, installed warcraft III and wouldn't start, said i needed to re-install directx, did that. tried again and got the same problem. I ran DXDIAG.EXE and got the following error message on the direct3d test:

Failure at Step 8 (Creating 3d Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)

I've updated the bios to the most current revision.

Any ideas...??

i've installed the newest drivers, i've back out and installed older drivers, reformated, and re-installed windows, installed, and re-installed direct x 8.1, I even un-installed netmeeting (article i found on technet) none of which have worked.

RE:

I'm havin the "same" exact problem with my video card which is also a Geforce 4 TI 4400. Is it perhaps chaintech as well and where did you purchase it? I did online at FTI Computers.

Problem Fixed

Mekaziah,

I found the fix for the problem. I went to my motherboard site, found out which chipset i was using, mine was sis645dx. I went to their download section, downloaded new agp drivers, and it fixed the problem.

Let me know if that fixes your problem
