Detecting printer

1820 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  owarrak
Hello

I have a canon bjc 4300. I am installing it on my pc and my operating system is windows xp pro. I do not have the driver cd for the printer and i am trying to install it from the pre-installed printer drivers xp offers. I have installed my printer from the list offered in the printer section of control panel yet my computer does not detect my printer. Any help with this? :dead:

I suggest downloading the latest drivers from the Canon website. There may be an update that resolves this issue. Also I found this:

Let me know if this helps.

One more thing, shudnt the computer detect the printer wen i plug it into the computer as new hardware? mine doesnt do this, any ideas?
Download and install the drivers before attaching the printer. You can download them from here:

Windows should detect the printer and install the drivers. Make sure your printer is powered on before attaching it to your computer.

I have tried all of that but it just doesnt detect the printer. I have had the same problem with another printer i tried to install on my computer. it just doesnt detect them. maybe the printer port is dodgy?
