Hi, I am new to the forums. I have an HP Deskjet 610CL and my PC is a 633mhz, 256mb running Win2K. My printer has always worked fine - under Win 95, Win ME, Win2k and Linux. I replaced the black print cartridge, and now it will not print black from any applications. If I print a Windows test page, align the cartridges or clean the cartridges, I get black ink no problem. But from all of my applications -- Word, Notepad, IE -- only the color shows up. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the driver for the printer, I have tried different drivers (the DJ 970C and 550C drivers which are fairly universal for HP printers), and I am still having the same problem. I am at a loss, and being that I used to do tech support for HP printers, I still can't figure this one out. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums Raelynn.............:D

Is this a brand new HP cartridge or is it one of those after market refills? I have an HP682C that does this with the color cartridge if I use one of the cheapys...........;)

That is a bit strange. I have that same printer and the only time it would do that is when the black cartridge is empty. Look around for an option to print in grayscale and see if it still comes out in color.
