I have a dell xps M 1530 for the past 6 months.Recently i was transfering some photos from a digicam to my laptop. After i did that i switched it off,the next time i switched it on the laptop goes past the resuming windows screen and then i get a black screen with a responsive mouse arrow cursor. The HDD seems to be running ,battery is fine.Did a Pre boot assesment test.tried to fix start up repair, tried to boot via vista cd but no success.Kindly advise.:upset:
No...same problem....it looks like everythings loading fine except for the login screen.
How can i use the F8 function options.......when i press f8 during booting i do not get into any options.....only function keys i'm able to use are f2 and f12....pls advise
So you see NOTHING on the screen from power ON? Same if using an external monitor? If that is the case, it fits the description on the link I gave in my last post.
After i power on i see the dell bios loading screen and then a screen that says windows resuming and then the black screen with the mouse arrow that is responsive but thats all......i cant log in or anythin......
Have you run HDD and RAM diagnostics? If not, I suggest you run them first (use Memtest86+ for RAM test). Run Memtest86+ at least 2 passes for each of the RAM stick installed. Test each stick individually (remove one while you test the other).
After running the diagnostics (assuming no errors), try a Vista Startup Repair.
I have run the diagnostics twice without any errors( did not try removing one stick) and also the windows start up repair....which was done but all i got after the repair was the windows resuming screen and then the same black screen again.
