I'm trying to set up a Dell Multitouch P2314T monitor on a Windows 7 host. The monitor component works but the touch doesn't. I looked at the drivers and it looks like the USB component isn't working/being recognized on my Windows machine. Additionally the Dell touch screen monitor just shows up as generic non-pnp in Device Manager and display settings.

I've tried all the drivers on this page:

Product Support | Dell US

But none of them detect the touch screen monitor (again listed as generic pnp). The USB PNP driver doesn't install correctly and it shows up as Unknown Device in Device Manager with no details available about the driver.

Any ides?

It's my understanding that there are two parts to a touch screen monitor. 1) the video cable, and 2) the USB cable.

With only the video cable connected, the monitor will function as just a normal monitor. The touch functions are controlled via the USB connection.

Assuming the USB ports are working (you can test using another device), the cable or monitor are likely faulty. Try connecting the monitor to another comupter, that will confirm a monitor or computer issue.
