I was hoping that someone could give me some advice on this problem I'm having with my computer before I take it to a store to get repaired (if I can't solve it on my own). I usually leave my laptop on overnight and since shutting the top of it cuts off the internet connection the next morning I usually have to reboot the computer to get the connection to start up again. Well, I did that today and everything was going fine. Dell loading screen came up but then so did the Boot Menu.

It gave me some options:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration

Start Windows Normally

I tried every option, even letting the timer count down to start windows itself but it would go to Window's loading page then once that was done it jumped to a blue screen with words on it that I couldn't read then sent itself back to the Dell loading page and the Boot Menu all over again.

I've tried letting it run itself over and over but it doesn't work and I've let it stay turned off for over 2 hours. I usually can think of something to do in this situation but it seems nearly impossible since it isn't letting me do anything at all.

Courtney.

what type of internet connection - dial up, dsl, cable, other? are you behind a router? firewall? network?

try going into your event viewer and check the system or application logs for errors.

I use cable but I connect it to my computer with a USB cable.
I can't get into Windows at all, not even the username page, so I can't get into event viewer.

Try booting with the internet connection unplugged.
If that fails try booting into safe mode by pressing the "F8" key while booting. If you can then get into windows have a look at event viewer.
Also, double check your bios for possible changes, like the bootup sequence, or any other changes that might have happened on their own, which does happen sometimes.
If all that fails, unhook what you absolutely dont need to boot up, any external drives, usb, and pci cards except video, etc, then try booting into safe mode.
