I only had the thing 3 days off ebay. I just wanted a super cheap one to remote desktop with and play around with linux.

I spent the last few days getting linux on it. Finally sorted it with wifi this afternoon. Feeling pleased with myself.

I switch it off no sings of any trouble. Leave it charging. Come back after an hour or so and when I switch it on the screen won't come on.

What could it be?

No error beeps or anything so I think the internals are ok in terms of botting etc.

I just connected it via cable to my main computer's monitor and it was booting fine and normal so the screen is the problem.

Not much that can be done about that then is there?

Monitor is the problem and timing is probably coincidental. If it's an Lcd you can repair it where we never suggested you open a Crt monitor which could be dangerous but cost of reapir with the price of monitors today makes little sense.
