We assume you have an Ethernet cable plugged into your computer going to Router or Modem or combo Router/Modem? A Red X over the speaker icon means there are no speakers plugged into the Green Audio port in the back. We assume, your speakers are turned on and plugged in?
As Old Rich said, go to Start/Search and type in devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these need drivers installed.
On an internet computer Go to the Dell drivers page Product Support | Dell US and type in your Service Tag # or find your model. Choose your OS version whether 32 bit or 64 bit and download any drivers you need from the Device Manager, save them to a USB flash Drive and install them on the troubled computer.
If you still have problems, go to Start/Search and type CMD, Right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt, type SFC /scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing system files.
