I have a Dell Inspiron 531 with Vista Home Premium and the bios was updated on it own and when I cut on the computer it would not do nothing the hard drives were working but the monitor wasent what can I do to fix this

I'm a bit confused on how the Bios was updated on it own but try to boot from a Linux disc.

Disconnect the data cables and remove any addon cards and try to boot.

If you were updating the BIOS and it failed, then you are likely out of luck.

dell has some software called dell support center and it downloads the drivers and software and what ever needs to be downloaded it does it by it self. The computer restarted and that was when I got a black screen and the power light being solid yellow.

Is the PC still under warranty? Even if it is not I would contact Dell about their automatic bios download bricking your motherboard.
OEM's are all gung ho about flashing the Bios through windows, which is the riskiest way to do so, it should always be done by the dos boot method either with a bootable floppy or a usb stick.
