I just cleaned up my lap top hard drive and reloaded all the software...now the sound isn't working. I don't think its the sound card as it was working fine before cleaned up my hard drive.

When I try to play a MP3 I get the message

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly."

I checked the sound and audio devices and under the hardware tab and it reports all the devices are reported to be working properly.

I am stuck..any help would be greatly appreciated.
