Hi

I have a new dell dimension 9200 running xp2 sp2 and its a core2 duo.

It has 2Gb of ram and an ATI Radeon X1300 PCI Express graphics card.

The problem is a speed issue, its slower than my old P4 with 1GB of Ram

I have updated the ATI driver and done all the Windows updates but it still seems slow.

Also applications seem to hang, ie Outlook 2003 often needs a reboot before it will receive emails! Nero Photoshow wouldnt open today until i rebooted.

Any clues to where is should look?

Power supply specs?
Please post your anti virus/malware and firewall programs.
Did you try removing ram 1 stick at a time? Device manager clean?

Running Panda Platinum 2007 for AntiVirus and Firewall

havent tried removing a ram stick, the same problem i am having is also associated with a NVidea graphics card though.

How do i do a device manager clean ?

Control panel>system>hardware>device manager
Click "view" then click "show hidden devices"
Check for any yellow alerts.

Multiple firewalls and antivirus programs arent advised, but multiple adaware and malware programs wont bump heads.

Maybe you should try posting a hyjack log
