I went to power on my dell dimension 4700. I powered it on, It booted to the welcome screen. I forgot the password so i rebooted it and went in to safe mode, The system rebooted half way into safe mode then the system locked up. I pressed the power button for 7sec powered it off, waited 30 sec, then powered it back on. When i powered it back on, the fans were on high and i got no video. I powered off the unit and unplugged it, reset the bios and still, I get no video but I do hear the fans spinning high. What can be the problem? Please post your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

I have tried reseting the bios & i replaced the PSU, Still no help.

Do you have a bootable CD? If so try booting from the Cd.

I cant do that. I don't get video and i can not get it to boot to BIOS or even post!

Ok do you know where the 4 Diagnostic Lights labeled A,B,C,D on the back panel?

Which ones light up and what colors are they?

A is Green, B is Orange, C is Green, D is Green

Can you give us any more detailed specs how many Memory modules,
Do you have a separate graphics card or is it on board?

Also can you check the cmos jumper to make certian it is on correctly

Jumpers are fine, Its on board video as i have stated before.

If you have more then 1 stick of memory pull the second one out and try to boot if you only have 1 stick try to reset it. I'm afraid with the combination of lights you have Dell does not have a code for and that usually means a motherboard failure.
