My Dell worked fine when I shut it off. In the morning it wouldn't boot.

Power unit runs fine, get error message "Boot Drive Error" on screen.

It was somewhat consoling to see that in the setup screen there are no drives recognized and all are still set on AUTO recognition for hardware.

I took out my hard drive and plugged it into a Sabrent box and it is fine with the ability to retrieve all my data (rules out hard drive failure).

Question:
Could a defective battery cause this kind of boot drive error?
Or do you suppose it is a problem with the motherboard?

What do you recommend first...next...last....?
I can't afford a new computer right now! Help.

Thank you for your help!
