dell dimension kept shutting off by itself. found online that it might be the fan. installed the fan, hit power button and get a clicking sound, no fan movement. green light on motherboard is solid then flutters while i hit power button. any clues?

I assume you are referring to the CPU fan?
The symptoms point to a failed PSU.
