Hello, my cousin has a Dell 4100 and he'd like to know if the hard drive in this can be upgraded and if so to what size. Also, what is the maximum memory it can take and what kind? The last thing is do you think it can take a 40x to 48x writer. He has tried to contact Dell but I guess he hasn't gotten any responses.

I don't know much about hardware to help him so I figured I'd ask here.

Thanks,

Hi sapphy and welcome to the forum,

He could get any size harddrive he wants as long as his OS is capable of handleing it. I believe you could get either a ATA-66 or ATA-100 harddrives and they both will work.

I believe the Deminsion 4100 motherboard could only support up to 512 RAM. (If I'm wrong someone please state it) It has to be PC133 SDRAM non-ecc.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, I will let him know. I believe he uses Windows Me and he wants at least a 40 gig.
