Hi,

Can someone explain to me why the following situation happens:

If I try to delete files from a USB storage device while using a MacBook it appears the files are gone. However, when taking the same USB storage device and plugging it into a Windows 10 machine I am able to see and recovery the entire contents of everything that was "deleted". They seem to be appearing as hidden folders, but everything is still there. Is there a reason this happens and anything that can be done to prevent this? It seems I have to delete the files from Windows.

On your Mac, when you Empty the Trash, the files will no longer be hidden and will Delete.
If there is nothing else on the drive you want, you can always Format the drive in Disk Utilities.
So I need to empty the trash on my Mac when deleting files from a USB drive in order for them to not show up on a Windows machine via that USB drive?
