Hello I recently aquired my brothers old compaq computer (1000mhz 256RAM, pentium III) and wanted to do a wipe since he abused it and had lots of spyware and viruses on it. So I inserted my windows XP pro disc, restarted the computer and entered the installation menu. I deleted the current windows partition and was about to create a new one when the computer froze up and wouldn't do anything. I tried pressing everything i could on the keyboard and it wouldn't do anything. So I turned the computer off then turned it back on and now nothing will display on the monitor so I don't know if it is actually starting up the installation menu or if it's just doing nothing when I turn it on.

If you're comfortable with opening the case (be sure to disconnect the power first)

1 - Reseat the memory modules

2 - Reseat the video card

3 - Remove all other PCI cards

4 - Check the power connections to the motherboard
