It's probably not hanging, you probably just have severe defragmentation. Windows created a poor filesystem when it comes to defragmentation. If the GUI (graphical user interface) doesn't seem to be doing it for you. Try through the command prompt. Just use the command: defrag c:/
Windows doesn't give you the defragger out there, there are more thorough *sp* defraggers but you'd have to pay for them or pirate them (Of course the BrandO does not promote that whatsoever). Just be patient though, I've seen defragg'ing take 12 hours.
