I have a machine running XP Pro. It is setup usually to connect to the internet via dial-up.
At some point something happened to it (Not sure what) such that web pages cannot be accessed. I installed a NIC and connected it to my router and set it up for my network and broadband.
It still will NOT connect to web pages. It will not resolve addresses, it will NOT connect to the IP associated to an address, but it can successfully ping internet IP's.
The DNS servers are entered in manually and have been checked several times to be certain that they are correctly entered.
The computer CAN see other Win XP boxes on my network and transfer files to and from them.
1. I ran sfc on it with no avail.
2. I reinstalled IE6 (had to set IE IsInstalled to 0 in reg b4 install, process is in Knowledgebase) with no luck.
3. I installed Netscape (7something) with no progress made.
Are there any "mission critical" files, like winsock, that I can reinstall?
If there are can you please list them (I can't seem to find a list in the knowledge base) and where they are located?
Any help would be appreciated.
