It is not uncommon to have dead pixels on a new monitor. Most companies will not warranty them unless the dead pixel count is 7 or more.

A friend of mine just purchased a 22 in. LCD monitor and tells me that he can return it for up to 14 days for any reason what so ever. I plan on purchasing a 19 in LG LCD from the same location tomorrow.

Next time you buy a monitor, check it in the store. Not everywhere it is allowed though. If they really want your business, they should let you do it.

I was in fact allowed to check my new laptop before buying it. Download this: http://www.astris.com/dpl

Copy it onto a flash drive, plug it in, run it in the shop, and you are done within less than a minute.
