I was thinking of buying some more ram for my computer. I have a Dell Dimension 4400 and was wondering if the faster DDR memory types, (2700, 3000...) would be compatible with my system. I currently have 2100 and 256 of 2700 is the same price as 2100 on pricewatch right now.

Electrically, they should be compatible, but some systems actually read the ID and refuse to run with different speed RAM, even if the speed is faster. Another point to consider, there is registered and non-registered DDR, and not all systems are compatible with both types. I learned this the hard way, not reading the *&%$# directions before ordering the memory!
