Hello, I have having problems with my display. I am not quite sure how to describe this problem, or even it if applies to this section of the forum, but I will try my best. :4-dontkno

This week (tuesday to be specific), I turned on my computer and discovered that my monitor did not display the computer desktop. When turning on my monitor display, it would simply not read the DCI connection from my graphics card DCI connection to the monitor, and it went back to sleep as it usually does when the computer is powered down. I switched to a VGA cable to my monitor from the computer tower itself to the monitor, and it worked. However, many of my computer games would suffer from low frame rate and or hampered performance when using the VGA cable. At first, I thought it was the video card that was the problem, however this is not the case as I discovered later.

I simply could not do anything at the time, so I shut off the computer. The next day however, I found that the DCI connection worked to my surprise, with no problems with gaming performance what so ever. In short, my computer was back to normal with no problems. The next day, again, the same problem occured like on tuesday, and has not "fixed itself" yet as it did on wednesday. Today I brought my computer to another place, and used another monitor with another DCI connection. This did not work obviously, so I simply bought a new video card thinking that was the problem. This again, did not work, and I am completely stumped...

If someone could help me diagnose this problem, that would be just swell. Right now I am using the VGA cord from my computer to my monitor, but I would very much like to use the DCI cable connection from my graphics card to my monitor so that I may play my video games and such. In advance, I am sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

The maker is Hewlett-Packard
Model: a6600F
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Duel CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz
Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

My power supply is a 540Watt, and my graphics card when the problem started is a Nvidia GeForce 9600GT. I have switched back to it seeing that the new video card, a Zotac Geforce GTS 450, would not work as well.

For some reason my computer can not detect the graphics card installed at all. I called my family computer expert and we tried to work through this problem together by removing and re-installing the drivers for the card, among other things. He believes that it might be a hardware problem, or a corrupt driver.

Here is some more information that I got off the trial version of AIDA64 if it helps.

I found the answer to my problem. I took my computer into a repair shop and they troubleshooted the machine. Apperantly it was a mother board problem. Thank you for your help anyway.
