Hi ,

I have a DVD with .avi files . This DVD plays fine on all DVD players ( all PCs that tired ) . The Problem is , am not able to copy individual files to my Hard Disk . I am reciving the "Data error - cyclic redundancy check" error messages on some files . Few files get copied without any problems .

How to go about this .

Regards

yeah I think the most common reason is definately a poorly burnt disc. apart from lowering the speed of the burn you could also try using a different brand of blank disc, but if you havent had this error before and have been using the same discs for a long time with no probs then it could well be the drive failing as koala has mentioned

heres a good info page on this type of error

It could also be the DVD to hard drive IDE cable. Try replacing it with a new one.
