Hi,

My external hard drive is saying it has a cyclic redundancy error. It tells me to format the disk but warns that I will lose everything saved. Is there any way of not losing all my data??

Its going to be very difficult to recover with the CRC errors that makes it much more difficult to read the drive. Dowload the trial of R-Studio scan the drive to see if it can even scan the drive and see the data. It will take many hours just let the scan run for approx 30min see how far it gets stop it and see what results you get.
