My Cadet just stopped moving. I was moving up a slight incline when it just stopped moving. Engine was still running. The reverse and forward peddles would depress easily but the mower went nowhere. I shut it down and looked under the machine and found a spring about six inches long and about 1/2 diameter. I cannot find a place for the spring. Could this spring have been connected to another part which could have been dropped also?

If the spring looks the one below it connects to the frame via stud usually and to the pedal control bracket.
