hi

i have low end cpu which i am not updating for a year
that said does anyone have tips to help me get playable fps on source or am i doomed
1.7 p4
768 ram 9600 pro radeon

i have av 18 fps and 5 fps in fire fight on cs source
i have constant 99 on 1.6 and can play doom 3 and cod with decent fps

i have new drivers and all settings low!!

strange thing is that i can set the settings higher and it is the same as low settings making me think i have a bottle neck problem even on 800 res makes no difference
would doubling my ram to 1.5 giga make a difference??
i thought doom3 was much more demanding than source so i'm confused and pissed
i much prefer source to 1.6 but cant play it

help

i used to have a 9600 non-pro and 512mb ram and i ran it on full detail with 30 fps (3000+ athlon 64) so it is obvious that neither the 9600 pro or your ram are the problem but infact its likely your processor, so either lower the detail or get a new processor

CS:S Source is generally a game which takes it out outta your CPU. Try and change all your ingame video settings to low, and change your resolution to 800x600. Also make sure your fps_max is set to something high and change your Player Decals to 0 (under Advanced option).

Hope this helps.
