1. About a week ago, when trying to delete or rename folders, I began being constantly denied access because "another person or process" was using it, and had each time to reboot to get access.

2. A few days later, on opening a file, I got a message to the effect that Windows was executing some gadget or other "to prevent damage to files by viruses".

3. Avast found no viruses, but on scanning one folder said it was scanning far more files than were supposed to be present.

4. Spyware Doctor found several instances of Crypt.K in Temporary Internet Files. After I deleted those files Spyware Doctor found no infection.

5. I was concerned that there might be some lingering malware that entered on the back of Crypt.K and contacted you.

6. On registering I found that my two main email addresses were banned, with the likelihood that they were issuing spam, which was a surprise.

7. I completed the 5 steps, with the exception that I had to let Panda skip the events logs, on which it was stalling every time.

8. I am (perhaps coincidentally) having a very hard time getting my main software tool (Sibelius) working with its associated sound software, and uninstalling/reinstalling has not been smooth, with apparent permissions problems.

9. The main Hijackthis log reads:
