have an Hp pavillion 8655c...has an asus mew-am with a 533mhz processor...I nknow get a new computer. friend gave me a 933 mhz (both socket 370) one site i went to said my board would upgrade up to 1.2 ghz but when i put in the 933 all i get is the hp screen. hdd not posting or anything else for that matter. am i doing somethin wrong?

Maybe you should try going into bios and configure some stuff or load failsafe configuration? IF you can get into bios that is

can't seem to even get that far. the motherboard specs show a jumper config but my board doesn't have the actual jumpers just spots where they should be

remove the new cpu, install the original cpu..redo the thermal compound..
